I need a car by the fall for my work placement program. I am a university student, hence I am poor. I can’t even afford a used car, but I need one.

The car has to cost less than 00…I am okay with buying an older Honda or Toyota because they seem to last longer than other cars. However, I am looking online at dealer and private sellers and seeing used Honda Civics, anywhere between 8 and 12 years old, some with over 200 000 km on it (which is about 125 000 miles), that are being priced at 00 or more????

This seems like a huge rip-off to me. I am looking at the website called Autotrader, and all used cars I am seeing seem to be priced at way more than they are worth.

I can’t afford a new car though…what do I do? What is a fair price for a Honda Civic that’s about ten years old? I have no idea what I’m looking for here.
Is a Honda the most reliable one? Least likely to break down?
