A few days later, we went her CO-OP company’s website and we realized there was a "feedback" page. We decided to send the company a funny email, no threats or anything serious; it literally said "BADGER" 50 times.. and we were dumb enough to send them another two emails afterwards.

Apparently the company she’s working for, contacted our high school, since the IP address they tracked down originated from there. They accused our school that a student was trying to sabotage the contest, and had sent them three unnecessary emails. Our school asked my friend questions, like if she had told someone about the voting contest or about the company website, but she was pressured into a situation where she didn’t want to betray the company, ruin the school’s reputation, or lose her job placement, so she lied and told them she didn’t know anything about it.

We had used the school computers to do the emailing/voting during one of course classes. After being informed that the school was trying to find out who did these things, we decided to delete the browsing history. What would cause me the least amount of trouble- confess to the school what I did and face the consequences, where my friend might get let go from her CO-OP placement? Or should I wait it out and see if they find out it was us? I have a feeling that the reason she is getting the police involved is because she can’t track down the individual computer IP(because it is hidden), but I’m not sure of course.

I’d like whoever who read this to know that we had good intentions with the voting contest, and we really wanted the company to win. We spent a total of two hours trying to get them in first place, and we didn’t know that we were doing anything wrong.

We were foolish to send the silly and pointless emails, but we were hoping that the people at her company would laugh!
