Can I get some website monetization help?
I have a website http://www.jrockalot.com
It is about myself, a US navy sailor who blogs about my experiences of navy boot camp and what navy life is about. I answer questions from people that are curious about the navy and what to expect.
I was just wanting to see what strategies I could use to generate some income. I have an adsense account as well as a few affiliates.
If anyone can help me with some ad placement Ideas that would be much appreciated.

your blog, should care about it, then many many people will visit your blog, then adsense will take you money.
You must optimize your site to rank on the first page result of Google,Yahoo or Bing search engine. You can do this by bookmarking your site on social bookmarking sites .This will give your site backlinks which in turn will boost your site rank. The goal is to get your site on Google’s first page result. Since first page results gets the most views ,visitors and buyers .This way you can make good sales. This is call search engine optimization and you don’t pay any advertisement fees. But it requires work. But you can use the tool call Social Monkee which is free. With social monkee you can submit or bookmark your site url to 25 social bookmarking sites instantly. Do this everyday and your site will get visitors
A blog like yours would probably do well to get some attention on Twitter. Use Twitter if you don’t already, and make use of the hastag, where you can put #navy and things like that in your posts and get more attention. The idea is to build up a lot of followers and every time you blog you let them know through Twitter. Use paper.li to create a daily newspaper around navy or military issues. It’s a free, automatically generated online newspaper that is created with content from Twitter users, and it will show as being published by you. As people notice they are quoted in the paper, they will check you out, and re-tweet, etc, and that builds more followers every day.
Also use Google to do a blog search for similar blogs that write about things like you do, and ask them to link to you. The more links you get, the more people will find you through regular link traffic and also through search engine results.
good luck!
Firstly be careful about getting too much traffic from Twitter (or Facebook) to start with. Adsense seem to be really "funny" about that type of traffic at the moment… not too sure why. I think it’s if that is where the majority of you visits are coming from, then they think its just your friends visiting.
When I visited you blog your ads were well below the fold, I had to scroll down quite a way before I saw any, I assume this is because you are putting the ads in the posts….
Remembering you can only have three ad units per page I would try and get at least one in the side bar top right, that is a very popular area as the eye is often drawn to it first. Don’t use blogger with Adsense myself but you might want to think about taking off the ones you have added and try the automatic settings in the Monetise Link… I think that gives you some good placements.
If you can get hold of it try and read "Adsense Secrets" by Joel Comm, I managed to get if for free (or in exchange for my email address), hes the leading expert on Adsense and knows much more about Ad placement etc.
