Can someone tell me about their personal experience with Goodwill Industries' job training/placement services?
I have been unemployed for over a year, and the traditional process of applying and interviewing for jobs is very difficult for me. I’ve had good luck with temp agencies before, because they usually give you typing tests, etc. (which I can totally ace) instead of interviewing you, but I’d like to find a more steady and predictable income and schedule if possible. Some people have suggested I try applying to Goodwill, but their employment office is pretty far from where I live, and I know very little about them besides what they say on their own website. I get the impression their services are primarily geared toward those of significantly less intelligence or ability than myself. I just want to know if it’s going to be worth my while if I do go? I’m not a stupid person and I don’t want to be treated like one.

It is worth your time to go. Goodwill is a big organization and if you get hired make it your goal to get on full time. They offer profit sharing and also insurance and other benefits. It is a great opportunity. Good Luck.
