Google Trust Rank – Information & Advice
The term “trust rank” refers to the trust level Google gives to a website. That is one reason everything we do while building an SEO campaign should be aimed, in part, at raising the level of trust Google will give our pages. The purpose of link building is to show that there are other websites that have gained a level of trust about the content we are providing, and we are expecting Google to trust our site more as a consequence.
To improve your Google trust rank, you will not have to do anything wildly different to what you are doing in terms of SEO now. This is because the two are not mutually exclusive. The best way to improve your trust rank has already been mentioned, by link building, however, just having a lot of links to your site is not enough. Google will also look at the sites from which you are getting links from for their relevancy to your site and the rank they also hold. The more relevant a site the more a link from that site is worth.
A lot of people tend to overlook the idea that having a quality website linked to their own site should be part of their own efforts in building links. Most seem to assume just having links is the goal, no matter where they come from. And that is not the case. Focus on having links from sites with a real authority, like sites that already have a reputation with major search engines due to their history, importance, relevance, and size. Links such as these carry a lot more weight. The kind of sites that are seen as authoritative are usually popular relevant sites, such as popular news sites, government sites, educational sites or sites that are seen as important and trustworthy in their respective fields. These are the kind of sites you want linking to your own site in order to really increase your Google trust rank. This is of course easier said than done and Google is always on the look out for questionable links, if you only link from amongst a small group of sites then Google will devalue these links and if you build up links too quickly it can look questionable.
In addition, factors like your domain’s age and how long it’s been registered, keywords, relevancy of pages, and your site overall are incorporated into your trust ranking. It is believed that Google tends to keep records of a few of these various trust rank measurements for a certain amount of time to be able to continue comparing what they find about your site. This way they are able to offer up a realistic trust rank for each and everyone of your pages.
