Here are some ways you can promote your blog
1. Create great content – everything starts with great content. Think ‘Linkbait" — or writing about stuff that would be so great that people will want to link to you. It can be a news hook where you write about something that is contrary to what everyone else is saying; resource hook where you have the only information available or humor hook.
2. Update the content regularly – make your visitors come back again and again to your blog by providing daily updates (even multiple posts per day!)

The one best way to get traffic is to use a company that handles (SEO) Search Engine Optimization. But I must warn you they are very expensive. The general fees is around 500 to 4000 dollars a month. However there may be some cheaper companies out there. You just have to google them.
Moreover, please DONT get caught up or fooled by companies that offers number one ranking on (Google or Yahoo front page) or say they can blast X mount of traffic to your site. For example 20,000 people a day for a one-time fee of $40.00 these are phony companies that will give you absolutely nothing in return. Believe me I know from experience. DONT BUY!!!!!
Another way to get traffic is through video. Millions and millions of peoples watch videos. I suggest you start your video or slide show with You Tube.You Tube excepts both video and slides. Slides are more easy. If you know Microsoft powerpoint your in.
Remember to use good keywords that’s apt to your site when applying your info with google. This will produce more traffic.
Last, if you’re going to use your blogger, use your google search engine and try some free blog accounts. Believe it or not you should be able to either copy and paste or "upload" the same "content" you already have on your site to their site.
If you can Sign up for as many as possible this way you have people eyes everywhere, not just on your original site. This trick should produce more traffic for you.

I personally believe that the best way to attract traffic to blogs is by commenting on other blogs – Even though this may sound a little old school, this is the best way to build traffic to your blogs without spending much nickel.
You could go one step further and also distribute your RSS Feed over Feed Directories to make sure that your content is properly aggregated and you are getting a good amount of organic search engine traffic.
Again, the matter is about choices – Whether you want to do it without spending much money or you want to do it spending some personal cash.
I’d personal advise you to stick to writing good quality blog posts and also commenting on other blog posts ( *hint hint* being the first to comment helps a lot ) and also making sure that other folks add your blog link to their blog roll.
Another great way in which you can retain your traffic is by allowing people to subscribe to your posts/feed via feedburner – Which will notify other people whenever a new post comes up and also help you get a spike in traffic.
