First – Thank you , this is a good question that a lot of people really don’t understand. You asked if your domain name was important for SEO ? Yes it is – as to what degree of importance the search engines put on a domain name is not exactly known, by ANYONE outside of the master vault at Google.
More important is the Human Factor – Someone types in your search term and page one shows up and you have some really cute , artsy-fartsy name that nobody but you understands, they will go somewhere else.
You say it’s an affiliate site, very good, have you considered using the actual product name with the word "Review" at the end ? Some pretty successful marketers have used that tactic with amazing results. Works well for blogs too.
So again , will it help to put keywords in your domain name ? most likely yes. One thing you can bank on for sure " It wouldn’t hurt."
Have Fun

The answer is YES. Domain name is one of the main factor, another main factor is the keyword on your content
