My financial adviser I got by word of mouth. My whole family (brother, parents, aunt, etc.) use him. I’m not sure I’d feel comfortable picking someone out of the F’s in the yellow pages.
I would never go with a financial advisor unless I had an endorsement from a friend or associate.
Grow your business by asking your clients to be source of reference for you potential clients.
If you advertise on the web or elsewhere the only info that would be creditable is the rate of return you have generated for your clients and then you should have client permission for potential clients to access them for verification.
