I’m currently in 4th year at my school and am on Work Experience for a week lasting 9th-13th of November and was supposed to go months before telling me to HMV which I had booked on a website the school had given us. Even though I booked it 2 months ago, they decided to wait til Monday to tell me that they had taken on too many people and cancelled the placement for me and 3 of my freinds from our school.

So, for the last 3 days I have been phoning Glasgow University and many shops and schools and have had no luck whatsoever. Do any of you know any shops or interesting places in Glasgow that are willing to take people on for Work Experience? I’m kinda looking for something to do with electronics or computing but I’m open to anything. Just don’t mention Game or Gamestation cause I’ve already tried them.

I am in Michigan – one of the worst unemployment rates in the country – any tips to help me stand out and get to the interview? 15+ years in admin. experience, polished and professional. Unfortunately, the game seems to have changed from the last time I looked for a job 8 years ago. I tried striking out on my own when company I worked for closed, to no avail. Are the job search engines helpful? I registered with just about all of them (Monster, etc.) but definitely hard to follow up when the company is anon. Ugh!
