I’m looking up the requirements to become a police officer, mainly in the Jacksonville, FL area. My boyfriend willbe moving to the area and wants to pursue this but based on my research, it isn’t clear what the qualifications are. He will complete his AA in Criminal Justice next year, then hopes to attend FSCJ’s police training program. It says there is 100% job placement into JSO after this program, but on JSO’s website it says that one must have a BA or military experience to join. I’m confused and want to know this info before he moves down here. Are there any Jax cops out there or other people in this field who know these answers?

I saw an add in career builder for some sort of program that cost and they give you reading material regarding bartending. They also give you access to a website w/your own password and such, and you take a 2 hr test as many times as you need to until you pass it. Once you pass it they mail you your certificate or license to bartend. They also have job placement, if they dont find you a job in 30 days, they refund your . This sounded like a good deal but it also sounded too good to be true because they ask you for your credit card info over the phone. Could this be legit? Has anyone heard of something like this? I heard bartending schools cost like 0-500. Right?

I’ll try and make this story as interesting as possible for you to read, so that someone might actually take the time to help me out.

I’m in trouble with my school, pretty big trouble in fact. I’ll start from the beginning: my best friend has her high school CO-OP placement at a computer company. This computer company was selected to be in a contest, where you win by having the highest number of votes(online, of course). Me and my friend realized that when you vote for a company, you only have to enter an email address. So, being very foolish, we took advantage of the system and voted as many times as it took to put her company in first place, using random email addresses.

A few days later, we went her CO-OP company’s website and we realized there was a "feedback" page. We decided to send the company a funny email, no threats or anything serious; it literally said "BADGER" 50 times.. and we were dumb enough to send them another two emails afterwards.

Apparently the company she’s working for, contacted our high school, since the IP address they tracked down originated from there. They accused our school that a student was trying to sabotage the contest, and had sent them three unnecessary emails. Our school asked my friend questions, like if she had told someone about the voting contest or about the company website, but she was pressured into a situation where she didn’t want to betray the company, ruin the school’s reputation, or lose her job placement, so she lied and told them she didn’t know anything about it.

We had used the school computers to do the emailing/voting during one of course classes. After being informed that the school was trying to find out who did these things, we decided to delete the browsing history. Luckily for us, they only had the school’s IP address and not the computer’s individual one, so it could have been anyone.

But then, they tracked down the time of day "the person" had visited the website. The time of the day was during our Computer class. They questioned my friend again, asking her if anyone who sat around her would have done it. Again, she declined. But we were left with news that the school would have to get the police involved soon.

Alright, now I REALLY need you’re help. What would cause me the least amount of trouble- confess to the school what I did and face the consequences, where my friend might get let go from her CO-OP placement? Or should I wait it out and see if they find out it was us? I have a feeling that the reason she is getting the police involved is because she can’t track down the individual computer IP(because it is hidden), but I’m not sure of course.

I’d like whoever who read this to know that we had good intentions with the voting contest, and we really wanted the company to win. We spent a total of two hours trying to get them in first place, and we didn’t know that we were doing anything wrong.

We were foolish to send the silly and pointless emails, but we were hoping that the people at her company would laugh!

Please, please help me. I feel very terrible for what we have done. I’ll appreciate any help that is offered.

Thank you for reading this.

keep reading that the dms program should be accredited, so that I can be registered with ARDMS right after my schooling. I have weighed my options and I have to spend 4 years at Loma Linda University (2 years in a different Allied Health Program, the preq. classes, the required religious classes at that school (I am not very religious), and 2 years in very hard to get into sonography program, they take 10 out of 45 applications) or I can go to West Coast College (not accredited but reputable) for 2 years and then spend that extra time in the field and actually work in sonography. It makes more sense to me to go with the WCC program and actually build my knowledge and experience level for a year before taking the ARDMS. Plus they have job placement so I shouldn’t have trouble working for a year before I am eligible to be registered. I read on a dms website that once you are registered, thats what the employers look at.

I would love to hear from sonographers & sonography students.
Once you are a registered DMS you can still further your sonography education with LLU if you want to go into a specialty.

I asked this before and had a couple of really good answers but my question got deleted somehow. Thanks to those who answered it.

I’m at a point in my life where I’m going nowhere and I need to do something to get back on some type of track. I heard about Job Corps from a friend and looked it up but there’s not much information on the website. I was wondering if anyone has attended Job Corps in Philadelphia and has any information/advice to share (i.e. Was it worthwhile? How were the classes? How helpful were/are they with job placement? Were you able to obtain a job afterward? What are some of the rules?) Information about Job Corps in other cities might help as well. Thanks
While all answers are appreciated I ask that you please refrain from answering if you’re just going to give me a link to the website. As previously stated I’ve already been to the website which doesn’t have many details to offer. Also I’m looking for answers from someone who has been in the program and can give me some first hand insight on how it works. Thanks again!

I just graduated from college last month in Medical Transcription, and ever since I got my certificate on July 25th, I’ve been job hunting like every week. I applied at the hospital, at many doc’s offices, I spoke with the job placement person at my college, and I’ve even registered with a temporary agency (giving them all my resume), NONE of which have contacted me back.

Shouldn’t they be quick to want to hire someone straight out of school? I know the economy is terrible right now, but the hospital has an open job ad for Medical Transcription on their website, and they STILL haven’t hired me. It can’t be that many applicants, because not many people go into that field.

WHY HAVEN’T I GOT A JOB YET?!?!
Jessica- I type between 65-80 WPM, and I put that on my resume. Maybe they want someone with experience.

To everyone who isn’t giving me a serious answer- Go slap yourself.
Ashley- I don’t expect anyone to "hand" me anything; if that was the case, I wouldn’t even be looking for work…I’d be trying to freeload off of some man or something.

I’m trying to get into medical assisting, and I wanted to make sure this school was accredited. I went to AlliedHealth.com and they actually recommended my exact school (The Salter School in Fall River, MA) but when I go to their website they say "Accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools". They said that their job placement rate was 78%, that the credit was mostly transferable, it has an externship, etc.

I just want to make sure that I can get certified after I graduate, and I also don’t want to waste my money. It IS a 9-month ,000 career college, but if it was recommended by AlliedHealth, wouldn’t it be legit?

Thank you!
A medical assistant is a person who deals with the clerical aspect and the clinical aspect of healthcare… she can be an assistant to a LPN, RN, or a physician and do more simple things like taking vitals or blood… thanks for the advice, I’ll be calling Monday!

I’m starting a blog ring for college students. Basically, at each college/university, a student blogger would write about their experiences at their specific university (like the nightlife, courses, housing/apartment options, internships and job placement, local crime, basically anything and everything fathomable and relevant). The goal is to give prospective students and parents a good feel for life at each specific school – all the things brochures don’t really tell you. But bloggers won’t be paid, just provided with their own website and something to beef up their resume with :-). So does this sound like something that people would be interested in contributing to? I’d appreciate any and all opinions!

I’m interested in being a Medical Assistant. I’m frustrated with the community college because they only offer an associates degree- not necessary for working as a CMA. I found a for-profit vocational school that offers a diploma in the course.

CMAs don’t make much money at all. I feel that taking a degree program would waste time. There may be a waiting list for the community college’s program. However the community college has 100% job placement. I became a CNA through the community college, so I’m familiar with it.

Here is the community college website:

http://www.gtcc.edu/academic/health/medical/

My concerns with the vocational school are that it will be expensive. (The cost is NOT listed on their site) Also that training ill not be as good. However I know it will be quicker.

Here is the vocational school’s website:

http://www.brookstone.edu/medical_tech.htm

Any suggestions or advice?

I will be graduating this year and have put a lot of thought into the Peace Corps for a few years now. Would it be more "strategic" to attend college first? I am somewhat worried about what to do after the service, do they help you with job placement, or perhaps education? I have looked into it on their website but haven’t found anything thus far. Does anybody know from experience? Or are there any other similar programs you can suggest? Thank you.

Does anyone know of a program that provides free online training for a job and also provides job placement. Basically I want a stay at home job with a certificate or degree that can be completed in a small amount of time for free, not using financial aid. If anyone knows of a program or website like this please help.
