I know how to use search engines etc. and I applied for at lesat 4 or 5 jobs on Monster.com yesterday. This afternoon I received two responses via my email. I called both back and neither companies are offering the jobs to non-local applicants. Their job advertisements did not specify this. I feel as though this is going to be a trend. How can I find jobs that will accept and potentially hire applicants who are out of state and looking to move. I do not have the financial base to just move somewhere and then look for a job.
STATS:
DEGREE: Bachelors of Science in Speech and Communication with an option in Communication Studies and a minor in Studio Art, 2007
CURRENT JOB: Business Development Assistant at an engineering firm
LOOKING FOR: BD or Marketing job preferrably in an art or design related firm… also not averse to a HR or Reception
EXPERIENCE: a little over 1 yr. including summer work/internship at a real estate firm during college
P.S.
A good point the first respondent has made. I’m also not against travelling to interview. If I’m confident in myself and my skills, I am willing to drive six hours for an interview, or even take a train. I feel like this also really speaks of a persons character: will work to get something they really want… and I will!
