I know how to use search engines etc. and I applied for at lesat 4 or 5 jobs on Monster.com yesterday. This afternoon I received two responses via my email. I called both back and neither companies are offering the jobs to non-local applicants. Their job advertisements did not specify this. I feel as though this is going to be a trend. How can I find jobs that will accept and potentially hire applicants who are out of state and looking to move. I do not have the financial base to just move somewhere and then look for a job.

STATS:

DEGREE: Bachelors of Science in Speech and Communication with an option in Communication Studies and a minor in Studio Art, 2007

CURRENT JOB: Business Development Assistant at an engineering firm

LOOKING FOR: BD or Marketing job preferrably in an art or design related firm… also not averse to a HR or Reception

EXPERIENCE: a little over 1 yr. including summer work/internship at a real estate firm during college
P.S.
A good point the first respondent has made. I’m also not against travelling to interview. If I’m confident in myself and my skills, I am willing to drive six hours for an interview, or even take a train. I feel like this also really speaks of a persons character: will work to get something they really want… and I will!

My boyfriend is feverishly job hunting. He is in the finance market and thanks to this economy he’s desperate for a co-op position.

He came across this job, which he received a call back for which gave him the job. I have some SERIOUS reservations about this position. 1) It’s sales (HELLO scheme!) and it just REEKS of scam.

I’ve gone to every search engine I know of to find this place and I can’t find a thing. Does anyone know anything about this place? Or where I can find more information.

I don’t want him to get screwed over by some scheme. Here’s the link on Career Builder…again it just feels like a scam:

I am learning to do SEO and many of the available literatures are confusing and sometimes conflicting – I have several practical questions and I would be obliged if someone can provide expert answers. Lots of thanks in advance.

1. Can I put a keyphrase like "e-business advantage" in the keyword tag when "e-business" and "advantage" are the words to be found in the content and not the "e-business advantage" phrase?

2. When "custom website design" is already defined as a keyphrase do I need to put keyphrases like "website design" or "custom website" or they are superfluous and not required?

3. Does "Bangalore Java Jobs" and "Java Jobs Bangalore" are same in terms of search?

4. The content has several occurences of "e-business consulting", "e-business solutions", "e-business strategies" and "e-business applications" – what would be an optimum keyword list?

5. The content has "pay-for-placement" so what should be my keyword? "pay for placement" or "pay-for-placement" ?

Global Consultants Canada is offering jobs to Nurses for Finland, Belgium and Netherlands and collecting money upfront thru wiretransfer to a bank in Taiwan. They claim it as their regional agent in Asia. They are offering the job letters in plain papers via emails or internet downloads. Committing to refund if they fails to give the placement or due to some reasons the candidate cannot qualify they will reverse the transfer to the account from they received the money. Need to varify this as they dont have much info on their website.www.employmentonly.biz and no tel or fax or email available apart from one email i.e varify@employmentonly.biz. If any of the Canadians can help on checking the genuinity of these people as they are not responding to the emails that i have sent. You may put the same in to the notice of the Regulatory body for companies in Canada for a check on them

I’m a college student (graduating with a degree in marketing in a year) that does web design, etc. for fun and would like to do small jobs here and there for some extra money. I have read very different things about how much I should charge, so if anyone has any experience or insight, please help me out!

What should I charge for…
-Website Design (fairly simple ones vs. large complex ones?)
-Search Engine Optimization (other than PPC)
-Hosting / Upkeep
-Logo Design
-Letterhead Design
-Business Card Design
-Marketing Plan

Thanks!!!

I am a recent college graduate who is looking for a job. My degree is in English. As a liberal arts major one can think of me as "a jack of all trades" therefore I have a strong interest in:

Technical Writing/Editing
Public Relations
Marketing
Community Development
Education
Hotel/Restaurant Management
Federal Employment

My resume can be viewed here:

http://brobertson.emurse.com/

It would be most appreciated if anyone in the Richmond Virginia area knew of any employers willing to take me under their wing, give me a chance and allow me to use my many skills for the needs of the company. Good internships? Good career search engines? Job Fairs? Any ideas?

(Also, no cold calling, selling insurance, online employment, work at home or door to door commission type jobs. I’m unemployed but not desperate. Thanks!)

I’m an intern with a nonprofit and my current job description includes quite a lot of things, but recently my job has centered around marketing on social networking sites. I currently manage their Twitter accounts and their profile/correspondence on a website for people to review nonprofits, and will be also managing their Facebook page very soon. I’m also in the process of learning about search engine optimization, which isn’t quite the same thing, but seems somewhat related, at least.

I’ve discovered that I enjoy doing those things, and I know that the skills are in demand to some extent, since so many companies have pages on those and other social networking sites these days. I also know this is a relatively new area for business, so jobs in it might not be very well defined. But is there an established job title that describes someone who manages content and correspondence on those kind of sites, or jobs that use that skill set frequently? How much does someone get paid for that kind of work? Any insight is useful, and particularly if you are or know someone who does that for a living, I’d like to know how it works in the context of a more defined job position. Thanks!

Does anyone know of a good job search engine besides careerbuilder, monster, indeed, bestjobsusa, or linkup that doesn’t give you all the advertisements and phony jobs? I know there will still be some on there because there always is. I’m a recent college graduate and looking for a job in marketing and that’s what the phony ads are always aimed at! Thanks for any help on great sites!

Ok, I’m fully aware that we are in recession economy but heres my dilemma. For the past month I have applied to 74 jobs online and in person. No one has called me back. The only people who have called are the jerks that hunt the job sites (careerbuilder, monster, hotjobs, State job search engine) and want you to sell insurance (waste of time).

Now my resume was looked at by professionals and they have said it was incredible as is my cover letters. I have plenty of experience and a very professional appearance and attitude. What is the deal? I even call places back to follow up and they never call me back, ever.

I don’t get it. I live in a town of 75,000 and there are plenty of jobs.

Hi.

I have this non compete clause that is just ridiculous. I worked for a search engine optimization company and they made us sign a non compete that said we couldn’t do ANY internet marketing anywhere in the world for 6 months. The thing is… I am a marketing major. What marketing jobs these days don’t somehow involve the internet? I already tried negotiating it, and he refuses. I have a job interview tomorrow for an internet marketing company… I need a job. Would it be that difficult to hit my previous boss with a declaratory judgment action? How much time would it take? Would I have a case?

I just graduated from College with my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, emphasis in marketing I also hold my Associate of Applied Arts degree in graphic communications…Any advice on some good positions to be seeking? (I never did an internship..) When I look for jobs on job search engines I usually type in marketing associate, or marketing coordinator jobs…but does anyone know of any better keywords, or really what I should be looking for, for an entry-level job with this kind of educational background? Thanks for any help!

I am a recent PhD graduate in Psychology, but all I’ve ever wanted to do is live in the Sierras, specifically, in a small town called June Lake. There is little to no work in this town, and it and the neighboring towns have become exorbitantly expensive to live in. I love the outdoors and have toyed with being a forest ranger for years now. Can someone please tell me what the educational requirements are, what the pay is, how difficult it is to find a job, and whether or not rangers can pick their area to some degree? It would only be worth it to me if I could work in or near Inyo National Forest. If any rangers have personal thoughts on their jobs for someone who probably romanticizes it terribly, I’d love to hear. And if anyone has a link to a useful website, I would love that as well. I don’t expect to be rich – college professors only make 50k at my level which doesn’t go far in Cali! – I just want to be happy.

Thank you for your time and assistance!

I’m in college, I’m intelligent, 4.0 G.P.A… but that really means nothing when it comes to finding a job. I know, get an internship lined up, I’m working on that. But what else can increase my chances of getting a job after college? The web search engines for jobs such as Monster.com are so full of spam and unrealistic opportunities that it’s ridiculous. What steps can I take now to ensure that I can get a job upon graduation which is 2 years from now? I’m a Business/Marketing Major with an English Minor… was thinking about becoming a Copywriter at an Ad Agency, but those are so few and far between. I really am willing to work hard, I feel I’m different from my peers. What steps can I take to prove it to the employers? What’s a good way to find a job?
