I’m in the military and I’m trying to take a math class at Central Texas College (there’s a branch at the duty station that I’m at which is Ft. Bragg). They are having me take a placement test this week however the lady wasn’t to informative on what test it was. She said it’s not the ACCUPLACER test though but something similar. She said it’s 25 questions and they give you an hour and it’s just all algebra and it’s all algebra under college algebra (which is the math I’m trying to place into). I was just curious if anyone has taken a test at Central Texas or if anyone has an idea of the test that I’m taking? I tried to look it up on their website and the only tests I’m showing for placement tests are the ASSET test and some Texas placement test. Thanks.

I am applying to college and I have to take a placement test and the math portion I have to take is algebra, graphing, equations, and other math. I dropped out of high school and got my G.E.D so I don’t really understand all of it.

Ok so at age 16 I took a high school equivalency exam or so i thought, because I recently found out that the place I took it at is not listed in the California Department of Education website so I guess it was a scam.
Well somehow I was allowed to register at a nearby community college (at the time they approved the diploma and so I thought it was legit). Two semesters has gone by and I received financial aid.
Today I was informed that my high school diploma is not legit and so I have no idea what is going to happen. Also, right now I’m 17 years old and I’ve taken 24 units so far. Last semester my GPA was 3.3 but will most likely increase after this semester. Also, I had to take a placement test at the college and did very well.
Will they allow me to get my GED ASAP although I’ve already started college? Also, do I have to be 18 or over?
Someone please help, I’m totally confused. I love school and I don’t want to have any kind of trouble.

I have a relative who may have to spend a few years in prison. He has already been convicted, and is scheduled for sentencing next month. Nobody in my family has ever been to prison, so I am not sure what he can expect. We want to make sure he takes advantage of all the opportunities they offer, and he has enough activities to keep him busy. What sort of social and cultural activities do they have in a typical prison. Do they offer leisure activities (tennis, shuffle board, aerobics etc) What about cultural/enrichment activities (art, literature, opportunities to learn a new language, etc)? Is there a course catalog so you can register in advance for whatever courses please you or do you have to wait until you arrive to see what is available? Do you have to take a placement test? Also, what sort of opportunities are there to socialize, such as hobbies and clubs (drama club, newspaper, band, color guard, cooking, French Club, etc) ? I want him to make friends and enjoy his time there as much as possible. I tried looking on the state department of corrections website, and I was unable to locate anything information. Should I try telephoning the prison social director or educational coordinator? Any information would be valuable. Thank you.

My college website says they determine which classes you go into by your ACT score or if you want you can take the college’s placement test. If I do get placed in easier classes would my university life be affected? Will I have a harder time in a university? Do you think 17 would be among one of the least advanced groups?

I’m currently a junior in high school looking to enroll in a community college over the summer to make up for lost credit last semester.

The registration date on the website for the college says May 9, but after applying to CCCapply and registering with the school I got an email saying my registration starts on June 16 (the semester begins June 20). Is it normal to have to register late if you’re a new student?

What are my chances of getting in since I’m taking Trig? I’ve heard math classes fill up really quickly since they’re often required courses. And what about add/drop days in the beginning of the semester, is there a good chance I’ll get in during that period if I don’t get to register?

Also, the prerequisite stuff is confusing me. In general at CCs, specifically for high school students but info in general helps, if you were already enrolled in the class you want to take but didn’t get a satisfactory grade yet completed all the prereq courses up to that point, do you still have to take the placement test to enroll? Or can you just petition the Admissions or Counseling departments to let you in without that test?

I’m taking trig/math analysis this year in high school, which means one semester of trig and one of precalc, and I’m getting an A for the precalc part (haven’t taken the final yet, but at the very least I’ll have a B+ this semester) but I got a D+ for the trig portion because of a lot of outside conflict. Would that information help to petition the test (since I’m doing well right now at an even higher level of math)?

Thanks in advance!

I’m thinking about applying for Missouri State University and I had read on this college finder website that they look at these scores. I personally have not taken the SAT or ACT since I just went to a community college after HS and I had to take a placement test there. Does not having taken these particular tests affect not getting into a college? Is there a way I can still take this test? It’s been 5 years since I’ve been in HS and I probably would fail misserably. Thanks for the help and answers from people who have experienced this would be greatly appreciated.
