Hi All,

Your help would really be appreciated in this . . .

I was hired on and currently work for an internet company as a web producer (updating our site through CMS and updating many small micro-sites). I’ve also owned my own small web business for the last 4 years and have been continually growing it on the side. I’ve been doing A-Z on those projects which include sales, design, development, QA, marketing, SEO and delivery.

Though I was originally brought in as a web producer in this company, I have done much more then was expected of me and that I was compensated for. Our company has been going through dramatically down sizing over the past 3 months and we’re now starting to build it back up as the demand for the services are getting higher.

Some of the work that I have done since joining include tons of designing (bottom to top) and developing, massive search engine optimization for 5 micro-sites and consulting for many other and as always general updating of the CMS site.

I recently spoke with the VP of marketing and told him that I wanted to change my role to an SEO Specialist. He turned around and said that he thinks I can be more than that. He wants me to take ownership over a couple of the projects that we have (million dollars ones). He stated that by simply being the SEO Specialist, I will always end up doing similar work that I have been doing up to date and would probably be under estimating myself.

My question: What would be the ideal role for me (the title) that I should ask for? We already have a creative director so that position is not available. What other positions would you guys recommend? He wants me to give him an answer and tell what I want my new title to be. I did a little research but then I thought I would try Yahoo Answers to get other answers as well.

Cheers!

Nowadays if we search any queries on yahoo, it gives lots of results around the world but if we click any of the results it transfers to us in a different page like any campaign or marriage portal or any junk things. May we know why things kinds of things are happening on yahoo search engine. If this is a part of marketing then its really bad as our precious time gets wasted. Yahoo should immediately address the concerns .

Does anyone have any tips on placing in the top 10 search results in Yahoo/Google/MSN or other top search engines?

Obviously a website can’t be on top for ever because search engines have to give others a chance to increase rank, but if there was a way to climb/improve placement.

Thanks for your help,
Marco Bonanni

I’m thinking about doing some email marketing. I’ve tried to do research on this company but there’s nothing to go on. I typed their url at bbb.org and the company couldn’t be found. I even checked for complaints about this company through yahoo search engine. At the bottom of their website, it only shows a street address but no city or state. They claim to have Guaranteed results. hmmm….

I’m looking for marketing suggestions to attract customers to my golf league management website (I won’t list the site so I’m not accused of spamming). I have an Adwords account, I’ve gotten great rankings with keywords like "Golf League Management" (usually #1 or 2) on Yahoo and Live.com, and within the top 10 on Google. I’ve also posted to golf blogs and directories.

Golf leagues are so seasonal that I basically have a 2-3 month window each year to get new customers. They trickle in by finding it through the search engines, but obviously I’d like to maximize this as much as possible.

I’ve been considering dropping by some golf courses and trying to give a quick unsolicited pitch to whoever’s behind the counter in the golf pro shop, but I’m not sure how this will go over.

Any other suggestions out there? I’ve gotten great feedback from the leagues that are using it, but how do I convince others that it offers much more than they can do with an individual software program?

If you look at market share of search engine in world, Google has ~45% while Yahoo has ~22% share. MSN, Ask.com, AOL, Mamma.com etc. follow. According, to MB survey, Google has more than 70% mind share in India and Yahoo search has around 22%. Google boxes are seen everywhere, because Google provides incentives to the publishers. What are people at Yahoo doing? How long will they take to make YPN available for the general public. Similarly, managers at MSN too seem to be relaxing. Be dynamic, otherwise Google will bite you hard.

I have a new tee shirt store called Twisted T’s, (cafepress.com/twistedt). What’s the best way to market it? I just don’t have the money to go crazy with search engine posting and banner ads right now. I was hoping for some creative (low cost) suggestions on how to get my designs out there and I figured the Yahoo! Answers crew would be great people to ask. Any ideas?

My novel is aimed at readers ages eleven through seventeen years old; although I’m predicting it will be most attracted to the younger side at ages eleven to thirteen since the protagonist is twelve to thirteen years old. The readers between the ages of fourteen and seventeen might buy the book if they can easily relate to the protagonist and her life as well as the readers at ages eleven and thirteen could. What is unique about my book is that it may be about a protagonist a little young for a young adult audience, but a lot of the content is intense and emotional, which is very common in young adult stories.
My goal is to sell at least two-hundred copies in the first year. I have many ideas for marketing and promoting my book. One is to put up promoting videos on Youtube, Blogspot, and other websites that will help promote my book. The second is to create a website for me as well as my book and add it to search engines such as Yahoo and Google as well as my book. The third is to arrange online, newspaper, and radio interviews. The fourth is to create blogs about my book and perhaps comment on other people’s blogs if they are based on their books. Another plan is to have other people I know read my book and post reviews online. The final plan is to write a press release and distribute it.
There are a few ways I will reach my target audience. One is to hold a book signing in my community at a small library or independent bookstore. My plan is to put up flyers around my community that contain my book cover and the information about the signings. Another idea is to do a talk and discussion at my local library. The final idea is to start a book club where I would meet with readers monthly, and discuss my book; maybe turn it into a podcast.

I am in the process of building my website. I get about 500 hits per month right now and have all the search engines…Yahoo Slurp, Google Bot and others scanning my site on a daily basis.

I want to be an advertising board so to speak. The idea would be to charge these businesses 50.00 a month to advertise there product on my site with a blurb about the activity, contact info and web info of the company. I just dont know how to approach these companys and how much to charge for advertising there info on my site that does not currently have high traffic…please, any ideas, advise …would be great ….thanks!

Plain & Simple:

1. I want to create my own search engine.
2. I want to custom-brand the search engine.
3. Yes, in other words, I want to create my own "Yahoo!" or Google.
4. I am not interested in hearing your views regarding market dominance and how it interferes with the feasibility of this project.
5. I do not want the Google custom search module on my site, as it is NOT custom branded AND it limits my searches to the Google world.
Everybody, I want to thank you all for your answers. I’ve gotten some really useful input from some of you. Please, keep the answers coming, I think this is a question that many people are interested in.
