What is the deal with the job market?
Ok, I’m fully aware that we are in recession economy but heres my dilemma. For the past month I have applied to 74 jobs online and in person. No one has called me back. The only people who have called are the jerks that hunt the job sites (careerbuilder, monster, hotjobs, State job search engine) and want you to sell insurance (waste of time).
Now my resume was looked at by professionals and they have said it was incredible as is my cover letters. I have plenty of experience and a very professional appearance and attitude. What is the deal? I even call places back to follow up and they never call me back, ever.
I don’t get it. I live in a town of 75,000 and there are plenty of jobs.

Just as in real estate, there are 14 applicants for every job – some areas more. The better your qualifications, the worse your chance for a job that you are over qualified for. They figure as soon as you find a better paying job, you will quit.
