Have you tried SEO and social media strategies? I would say that those two are actually reliable in order to reach traffic, but not just useless traffic, but the right one. Of course it depends on which places you make promote yourself. Just make sure that you do it in fields that are related to your business!

Look http://www.PaidToClick.in and advertise your website there.
I found it through an article that specifically listed as a good website that sells high quality traffic. I purchased 50000 visitors to my website, and noticed the difference before I even checked my logs! I am so glad that I finally found a way to market my website that can be done quickly. I know I’ve found a working method!
I just wanted to say how impressed I was with there service. My campaigns were set up promptly and delivered as promised. I was impressed with the results as well. I purchased traffic for two of my websites and I received over 21450 signups for the first website and over 31030 signups for the second. (That’s less than $0.001 a lead! Try finding that elsewhere!).
There advertising works great. I’m using a direct landing page for my campaign and have been tracking every ad. A very high amount of visitors have been browsing my site and my conversion rates have gone up..
Ever since I began advertising with Quality Traffic Supply, my sales have greatly increased. Since I now have a steady source of traffic which is targeted to my content, I now get a good return on investment. There traffic has worked wonders for me. Every $1 I spend there I bring in another $30!
Hi Molly
You could write some useful articles relating to your website and submit them to article sites like EzineArticles.com and GoArticles.com. You could also set up a free blog at blogger.com and make some blog posts relating to your website too.
You could also do some SEO on your website, like choosing some good keywords. Go to Google and type in "Google Adwords Keyword Tool " and type in the url of your website. This will then give some keyword ideas for your website.
Also add a google site map if you don’t already have one and have your website verified by google. To do this open an account with google and go to webmaster tools for more information.
Hi Molly,
Looks like you are seeking for an alternative channel to http://bit.ly/bymvXb” target = “_blank” rel = “dofollow”>http://bit.ly/bymvXb” target = “_blank” rel = “dofollow”>increase traffic. Thus, I will list the following ways in terms of how innovative they are:
–http://www.RateMyAdSpace.com; this website is simple but with a very novel idea behind it. Its homepage is dedicated to a growing ranking list, which is comprised of advertisement spaces(AdSpaces). The AdSpace are open for anyone to purchase and anyone to rate.
It is launched recently and is it designed for people to maintain their business vitality through the current financial crisis. It is expecting to be viewed by millions of people.
The key is that viewers, fueled by a fascination with competition, will want to come and see how businesses are faring, according to who has the highest rated AdSpace. You only need to pay a One-Time fee to be on the homepage. The soon you join, the higher you’d be up in rank, and the easier it is to http://bit.ly/bymvXb” target = “_blank” rel = “dofollow”>http://bit.ly/bymvXb” target = “_blank” rel = “dofollow”>increase traffic
–Write blogs and articles: writing your online-journal that is relevant to your business is effective, because it draws viewers and creates a personal connection. You can also be creative with the content of your writing and how it associates with your business. However, it can be difficult to maintain because it is manual work.
–Search Engine Optimization (SEO) This entity provides useful services for website owners, such as reviewing your site content or structure, providing technical advice on website development. But I will advice you to be cautious with it, because it can risk damage to your site and reputation.
Free method : traffic exchange programs. You view other people`s websites , they view yours. Free to join and use.
You sign up for free and inside you view other members` sites and in return you get visitors to your site(s). You have to spend a number of seconds viewing a site before moving on to the next , and other people have to do the same looking at your website.
You can start receiving visitors in minutes after signing up. Live. You get guaranteed visits to your site.
How much traffic you get from traffic exchange programs only depends on how much time you can spend using them.
Using traffic exchange programs boosts search engine ranking.
BUT Google Ads are NOT compatible with traffic exchanges.
(Traffic exchange sites generate a lot of exposure , which boosts rankings , but also a lot of impressions for Google Ads , and Google does not want websites with Google Ads promoted in traffic exchanges)
I hope this helps.
Source(s):
I use around 40 manual traffic exchange sites. I recommend these ones because they have been online for years and are top quality in my opinion. All free to join and use. Check them out and see if they can be of use to you.
TrafficEra : traffic exchange + community. You have the traffic exchange feature , a profile to describe your sites and post your links , discussion groups , and lots more. A lot of tools to increase the exposure of your site

Two part answer.
First solution:
check out the 30 day challenge. This free (actually free and they don’t sell you anything) course walks you through getting free targeted traffic to your site with the goal of getting you to make your first $1 online. I wouldn’t call this "alternative" but it does cover a lot of basics that people either forget about or discount as not being effective.

Second solution:
This free (actually free and they don’t even want your email addy) course shows you how to sell any type of product online. It also includes a stunning viral idea that may make all your other efforts obsolete. This is the bit that makes this solution completely different. When you read through the guide you will ask yourself "why didn’t I think of that?" Again, completely free and very effective.

Good luck.
The most effective way to advertise on the Internet is
to first set up a website and publish its domain name
on major search directories such as Google.com,
Yahoo.com [at http://www.google.com/addurl/?...... and
MSN.com since 85% of Internet shoppers rely on these
search directories to provide them with goods and
services. In a sense, these search directories are a
very large Internet Yellow Pages.
Nevertheless, should your website or opening webpage
fail to contain "generic" keywords, then anyone using
such "generic" queries will not be able to discover
your website. Your domain name [URL] of your website,
in a sense, will be invisible, undiscoverable.
You may want to consider some simple algorithms which,
when observed and committed in designing of a website
with placement of various critical metatags that can
surely achieve a high search engine presence and
increase Internet traffic to your website. These
metatag strategies work well with published webpages
at Google and Yahoo.
Design: Should you create an extensive Flash-based
website, make sure to fill-in the property entries
such as the Title, Description and Keywords. Failing
to do so, leaves no hard HTML or ALT resource that can
be readily indexed by search robots. Also consider the
Internet audience and their incoming setup. For
example, if they are on analog/dialup, Flash webpages
take too long to load up and therefore analog users
will likely lose interest and discontinue entering the
Flash site. On the other hand, anyone on hi-speed DSL
lines, will welcome Flash pages which load quickly. So
before designing a pure Flash websitge, ask the simple
question, "Who’s my end user – is he on dialup or
DSL?" And if you had to choose between these two users
for maximum marketability, then select analog users
since 80% of most resident users are still analog
Internet subscribers and pure HTML designed webpages
is best for them.
A non-Flash-based website which relies on hard text,
is far easier to be indexed by search robots. Limit
the use of stylized text saved as .gifs since as a
graphic, they are not indexable by search robots.
Avoid use of frames since any number of search robots
are unable to properly classify textual material.
Placement of Metatags:
A ranking or search order does take place with Google
and Yahoo and it begins with the "Title" metag which
should consist of no more than 65 characters separated
by commas. The "Title" should describe in generic
terms, the goods and services, followed by a location
from which the resource is located, i.e., city, state.
The placement of a domain name which is not generic
within the "Title" is not appropriate, unless your
domain name is a major recognizable brand name.
The second metatag is the "Description" which is
usually 25-30 words to form a complete sentence which
best describes one’s goods and services.
And the very last category – "Keywords" are also
somewhat limited to 15-16 words which can be plural
and compound in nature. Again, avoid multiple entries
which could be mistaken as "spamdexed entries" which
is defined as the loading, and submission of
repetitive words into a particular metatag category.
"Spamdexing" when discovered on a webpage and reported
to Google’s spamreport.com can result in the
elimination of your website from their search
directory.
Good luck!
