Why are there no entry-level marketing jobs out there?
Are there any marketing jobs in san diego or in california in general? I am a recent graduate and barely can find any.
I use craigslist, careerbuilder/indeed.com, monster.com, yahoo hot jobs, directly go to corporate web sites, but no luck.
It seems like EVERY marketing job is 99% of the time for a "manager", "director", "senior", or some other high position, are there ANY entry-level marketing jobs? I know they are things like marketing analyst, marketing assistant, assistant brand manager, marketing associate/coordinator, etc., but they are barely any.
I am willing to go to other states but it seems like it’s the same thing over and over, garbage entry level jobs flooding job sites that are door-to-door labelled as "marketing", or manager jobs that I’m obviously not qualified for, what am I supposed to do? Is it the economy? This major? Or something else?
I haven’t found any schools in California that I can enroll in an MBA because they all require you work first, average age of entrance is normally 27-28 with 4-6 years of work experience. Unless I do an online degree which I wouldnt want to do.
*Why are there more managerial positions than entry level? What other functions in a business should I look after? I also try product development, PR, communications, etc.
*How can I work for online marketing firms that require things like Search engine marketing experience when I didnt learn that stuff in school? Should I get a certificate in it? Learn it somewhere?

The marketing jobs are down frowned upon by our messiah and chief. He told Chrysler to cut back on advertising which goes outside of his prevue as president. Yes, Obama can run around the constitution and make executive commands forcing business to hire, fire, and what they can make, then market.
If you dig deeper, you’ll see that certain positions taken by employers to hire, are made out of fear.
It’s the economy. California has very high unemployment now, so most companies won’t be looking to hire entry level employees when there are more experienced candidates who are out of work and willing to settle for lower wages. For the time being, you should just take whatever you can get, even if it isn’t in your field. Once the economy starts to turn around, you should have more luck.

its because people in working class and all that stuff hate beginners and anyone under like… 25 to 30.

There are more managerial positions right now because companies are hurting, so they need to up the anty in their marketing efforts. They fire one manager and hire a new one hoping for better results.
I don’t know that getting your MBA will pay off right now. It’s been my experience that having a masters of any sort doesn’t pay off until 10 years of real life experience. It’s impressive to the hiring managers, but they won’t pay you more for it generally, unless you have experience. Yeah, a catch 22.
Do research on what cities are doing the most hiring right now, most of them are in the mid west or plains states. Also, look in Washington state, it’s got a low unemployment rate. The unemployment rate in California is high right now, and companies know they can get experienced talent for cheap.
Look at http://www.caljobs.ca.gov – the state of CA website for jobs; much better than the others. Also look at the city websites around you; they may be hiring
